The Trauma Release Spread
Trauma lives in the body, the nervous system, and the unconscious — and releasing it is rarely a single event but rather a layered, nonlinear process. This seven-card spread does not attempt to heal trauma in a reading. Instead it offers a compassionate map of where you are in your healing process: what is asking to be witnessed, what protective mechanism has been keeping you safe, what the body is holding, where strength is already present, the next layer of healing available, who or what is supporting you, and the quality of aliveness waiting for you on the other side of this work.
Step 1: Instructions
Use only when you are working with a qualified trauma-informed therapist, somatic practitioner, or other trained support. This spread is not a standalone healing tool — it is a compass that can orient you within a broader healing process. Never use this spread to push yourself faster through trauma processing than your nervous system can safely hold.
Step 2: Card Positions
- #1What is asking to be witnessed right now
- #2The protective mechanism that has been keeping you safe
- #3What the body is holding and asking you to hear
- #4Where strength is already present in you
- #5The next layer of healing that is available
- #6Who or what is supporting you through this
- #7The quality of aliveness waiting on the other side
Step 3: Interpretation Advice
The Strength card in any position is deeply reassuring in this spread — it confirms that what you are carrying does not exceed your capacity to heal, even when it feels that way. The Hermit in position six (support) sometimes surprises people who hoped for a community card — it may be pointing to solitude, nature, or interior spiritual practice as your primary support resource right now.
