The Decision Making Spread
Sometimes you need clear, structured guidance rather than elaborate narrative. This four-card decision-making spread strips the process down to its essentials: what the situation truly is right now, what your intuition is actually saying about the best course of action, what consequence will flow from acting, and what consequence will flow from not acting. The final two positions make the cost of inaction just as visible as the cost of action — because choosing not to decide is itself a decision with its own consequences.
Step 1: Instructions
Use for any decision that has been lingering and where procrastination is becoming its own problem. It is particularly suited to decisions that are not between two specific options but between action and inaction — responding to a situation or allowing it to continue. It works for relationship decisions, professional decisions, and personal boundary questions.
Step 2: Card Positions
- #1What the situation truly is right now
- #2What your intuition is saying about the best course
- #3The consequence of acting
- #4The consequence of not acting
Step 3: Interpretation Advice
The hardest part of this spread is position two — not reading what the card 'means' but genuinely checking whether it resonates with what you have been sensing intuitively all along. If the card surprises you, ask whether it surprises you because it is wrong or because it is exactly right and uncomfortable to admit.
